I am so sad to report that my great friend, Phil Bonanno
passed away yesterday on April 24th, 2007.
Phil was one of the worlds best recording engineers who took me under
his wing when I was just a nineteen year old kid trying to get into the business. He taught me how to hit the drums hard and with consistency. He taught me how to play with a click track and even gave me his Linn

with. Phil also recommended me for the drum position in Survivor, which led to everything else I have done.
So I really owe much of my career to that great man. Phil was the kindest, most big-hearted people one could ever know. My son and I laughed at how he was just a big kid...only older. He had just finished recording my drum tracks for Dennis Deyoung's newest album and they sound great as always. I am so lucky to have known him and I smile to think that his last project was working with a drummer who idolized him as a person, father and musical genius.
